Naples, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Caceres second-half strike proved to be the match-winner on Sunday as Juventus claimed a tense 3-1 victory over Napoli in a top-four clash at the Stadio San Paolo. Juventus entered the clash on a bit of a slide, going winless in its past two contests, but the three-time champions got off to a good start after 29 minutes with a spectacular individual effort from France international Paul Pogba. Pogba found some space in the penalty area and ripped a well-placed strike past a diving Rafael for a spectacular opening salvo. But Napoli battled back with an equalizer in the 64th minute when Miguel Britos got on the end of a corner kick from Dries Mertens and wired it past Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Juve went back in front in the 69th minute as Andrea Pirlo delivered one of his patented free kicks into the box where Martin Caceres got on the end to snap it home. Napoli looked to have again equalized in the 73rd minute when Buffon came off his line to claim the ball but looked to have lost it in a collision. The home side slid it into the empty net, but it was ruled out for a foul against Napoli. The fourth officials board showed six minutes of added time, but Napoli could not find an equalizer and Juve put the result to bed in stoppage time when Arturo Vidal smashed one into the top right corner, leaving Rafael with no chance for a save as the defending champs escaped with all three points. The win sees Juve climb back to the summit of the Serie A table with 43 points, while Napoli remains in fourth place on 30 points. Also in Serie A on Sunday, Inter Milan claimed a 3-1 victory over Genoa thanks to goals from Rodrigo Palacio, Mauro Icardi and former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, while Davide Zappacosta and Dejan Lazarevic traded goals as Atalanta and Chievo played to a 1-1 draw. Joao Pedro Galvao and Godfred Donsah scored first-half goals to lift Cagliari to a 2-1 win over Cesena, while Juan Cuadrado and Joaquin netted second-half goals in a span of 10 minutes to lead Fiorentina to a wild 4-3 win over Palermo. Jacopo Sala, Luca Toni and Mattia Valoti netted goals to send Hellas Verona to a 3-1 win over Parma, while Francesco Totti scored two goals in the second half to help Roma battle back and earn a point in a 2-2 draw with Lazio. Smoak will earn $2,637,500 this season under Saturdays agreement, and Seattle has a $3.65 million option for 2015 with a $150,000 buyout. The deal contains several bonuses and escalators. He was Seattles last player in arbitration. With the moves to acquire Corey Hart and Logan Morrison in the off-season, Smoaks time at first base could be significantly reduced if he isnt a consistent performer at the plate. Smoak, 27, hit a career-high 20 homers last season but batted just .238. Smoak ranked fifth among AL first basemen with a .995 fielding percentage. His option price could escalate based on 2014 performance and awards: $100,000 for 500 plate appearances, $250,000 for 525 plate appearances, $250,00 for finishing among the top 15 in MVP voting, $200,000 for All-Star election or selection, $150,000 for Silver Slugger and $50,000 for Gold Glove. In addition, he could earn all of those amounts as 2014 bonuses. The option would become guaranteed if he has 525 plate appearances or meets the MVP, All-Star or Silver Slugger targets.
