a left-handed hitter whos best served as a designated Antworten

ANAHEIM – Adam Lind will be lost to the Blue Jays for most of the second half of the season with a fracture in his right foot. Nick Van Exel Lakers Jersey . Not only does the injury do further damage to the clubs hopes of a first playoff appearance in more than 20 years, it damages the franchises reputation because of how the injury was diagnosed. Lind volunteered the information after Wednesdays 8-7 loss to the Angels. "My mom wanted me to get an MRI, which we hadnt had yet because it wasnt getting any better," said Lind. "I asked for an MRI and it showed it." The fracture is the result of the ball Lind fouled off his foot on June 14 in Baltimore. At the time, he underwent a CT scan, which revealed a deep bruise. Lind said he was told he could not make the injury worse by playing. He pinch hit in games in New York (June 19) and Cincinnati (June 20, 21) before returning to the starting lineup as the designated hitter on June 23. At the time, he acknowledged his return to the starting lineup was expedited in the wake of injuries to Brett Lawrie (fractured right index finger) and Jose Bautista (hamstring). Since that time, Edwin Encarnacion has landed on the disabled list with a Grade-2 strain of his right quadriceps. Its not clear whether the initial CT scan missed the diagnosis or whether Lind was given bad information regarding the consequences of playing with the injury. The bottom line is Linds gone, taking his .320/.389/.489 (.369/.434/.570 versus right-handed pitchers) slash line with him. "Its not good," he said, in what qualifies as the understatement of the year. The Blue Jays, 1-6 through the Oakland and Anaheim portions of their 10-game, pre-All-Star Break road trip, have a day off on Thursday before settling in to Tampa Bay for three games with the Rays. A roster move will have to be made with Dan Johnson making the most sense. Johnson, 34, is a left-handed hitter whos best served as a designated hitter. He can occasionally play first base. He is a poor mans Lind, racking up more than three years of major league service time spread over eight seasons with four organizations. In 92 games with Triple-A Buffalo this year, Johnson is hitting .251/.405/.479 with 17 home runs and 19 doubles. He is best remembered for a home run he hit off Yankees reliever Cory Wade on the final day of the 2011 regular season. Johnsons Tampa Bay Rays overcame a 7-0 deficit as the Boston Red Sox, up in Baltimore, completed their fried chicken and beer-induced implosion that cost manager Terry Francona his job. The Rays would beat the Yankees in 12 innings on an Evan Longoria home run and enter the playoffs in improbable fashion. Without Lind, Encarnacion and Lawrie for the foreseeable future and with Bautista playing through continued pain in his hamstring, the Jays are beaten up as they get beaten on a near daily basis. George Mikan Lakers Jersey . The Jays responded to the three-spot Detroit placed on Casey Janssen the evening before with an attack on the Tigers Achilles Heel, its bullpen, tying the game in the ninth and winning the game in the 10th. The result absolved Marcus Stroman, brilliant once again, of a tough luck loss while at the same time robbing Max Scherzer, brilliant once again, of a deserved win. Kostas Antetokounmpo Jersey .Morse gets a $1 million signing bonus and salaries of $7 million next season and $8 million in 2016 under the agreement announced Wednesday. https://www.lakersjerseycheap.com/1351j-karl-malone-jersey-lakers.html .com) - Marian Gaborik scored his sixth goal in the last four games to help the Los Angeles Kings top the Arizona Coyotes, 4-2, Saturday at Staples Center.Chestnut Hill, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The second-ranked Virginia Cavaliers put their perfect record on the line on Saturday afternoon, as they take on the Boston College Eagles in an ACC affair at the Conte Forum. Tony Bennetts Cavaliers are one of just two unbeatens left in the country, the other being the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats. Virginia is off to its best start since the 1980-81 season and moved to 16-0 overall and 4-0 in league play with Tuesdays 65-42 rout of Clemson. Jim Christians Eagles are treading water right now at 8-7 overall. League play has been particularly challenging for BC, which is still searching for its first ACC win of the season. The Eagles are 0-3 in the ACC, but did halt a three-game slide with a hard-fought 64-57 OT victory against local rival Harvard on Wednesday. Virginia holds a 10-7 advantage in the series with Boston College and that includes a 7-7 mark in ACC games. The Cavaliers have won three of the last four meetings, including a 77-67 decision in Charlottesville last season. Still, Boston College has won four of the five meetings in Chestnut Hill. There is no secret as to how Virginia likes to win games. Under Bennett, the Cavaliers have utilized stifling defensive play and this year is no different. Virginia ranks first in the nation in scoring defense (50.6 ppg), holding foes to a meager .338 shooting, while holding a hefty +10.9 rebounding margin. Just because it is a defense-first mentality at Virginia, doesnt mean the team is void of offensive talent. The Cavs are shooting an impressive .485 from the floor this season, with three of tthe five starters averaging double figures. JaVale McGee Jersey. Justin Anderson paces the team at 14.9 ppg. Malcolm Brogdon is next in line at 13.2 ppg, followed closely by Anthony Gill and his 11.8 ppg. Virginia dominated at both ends of the floor against Clemson, holding the Tigers to a mere .357 shooting effort, while delivering on a cool 50 percent of its own shots. The Cavaliers really blew the game open in the second half, converting a scorching 62.5 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes of action. Brogdon and Anderson were the leaders at the offensive end, netting 16 and 15 points in the win, respectively. Patrick Heckmann caught fire in the overtime session, netting nine of his 14 points in the frame to lead Boston College to a thrilling win over rival Harvard last time out. Olivier Hanlan had a strong game as well, finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds. Big man Dennis Clifford posted a double- double with 13 points and 10 boards, while Aaron Brown contributed 12 points for the Eagles, who shot 51.9 percent from the floor for the game, including a sizzling 6-of-7 in the overtime session. The shots havent fallen quite as efficiently on the year for Boston College, which enters this game with modest offensive numbers, averaging 65.8 ppg on 43.8 percent shooting. Hanlan is a jack-of-all-trades kind of player who gets involved in every facet of the game. He leads the team in scoring (16.4 ppg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (1.8 spg) and also grabs just over four rebounds per outing (4.1). Brown is a close second in the scoring column with his 14.4 ppg. ' ' '
